Go Out/Stay In

On this rainy Edinburgh day, we are thinking of the cosiest escapes we have available to us right now.

While the beer garden had it’s moment (and will again – fingers crossed), we are more than ready for a evening inside - Old Fashioned in hand, fire roaring away, and the wind blowing a gale outside. We recommend staying until closing time, sharing a second bottle of PicPoul with a mound of cheese and charcuterie. Read on for our team’s recommendations of the cosiest drinking spots in Edinburgh…

Closest to our hearts (and doors) at Frontiers are The Green Room and Voyage of Buck, both neighbours on William Street. Beautiful French wines and small bites at The Green Room, followed by cocktails over brunch at Voyage for a perfect weekend.

At the other side of town we love the beautiful Lady Libertine basement wine cafe on West Register Street. Perfect for dressing up and lounging in a booth all evening, forgetting the world outside.

Down in Stockbridge, we have The Last Word cocktail saloon hidden in a basement on St. Stephen’s Street. Get in early to nab a seat in front of the fire, and order their namesake cocktail - gin, green Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, and lime.

For our Leithers, Spry Wines on Haddington Place is a beautiful space that specialises in natural wine and simple dishes made with locally grown produce. Book a large table for a lazy Saturday afternoon with friends.
